CHALLENGE CHALLENGE CHALLENGE
Okay. There is a fic-challenge that I've done successfully with Kol twice before that I'd like to open up for other people! It is the idea of creating stories that compliment each other, yet in a way that is not premeditated. It's the thrill of seeing what two different stories result from the same prompt and starting-point.
There are three elements to this:
- Agreed-upon canon and central characters. For example, Kol and I agreed on the canon of Kingdom, with Deon and Mara.
- Agreed-upon prompt and/or scenario. In the Deon/Mara case, we once did the prompt If I didn't know you, I'd rather not know and agreed on Pacificon as the setting.
- Agreed-upon time to post the suckah.
Lemme give an example, the challenge that me and K decided on for this month. We decided that the canon would be Circus of Dreams, our in-progress Sailor Moon SuperS reimagination project. I pulled up the 31 Days prompt list and we went with #9, It seems to me I am trying to tell you a dream. We decided that we'd take the stories from the angles of Nehallenia and Chibi-usa. Then I asked her to pick out a mood song, just to suppliment, and she suggested 'The Dreaming Tree' by Dave Matthews Band. We agreed on Dec. 31st as the deadline. BAM.
I'm taking this challenge from K this month so far, but I think I can take on two more! If anybody is interested in this, leave a comment and I'll catch up with you, or just stalk me in AIM tomorrow :D And this month is tough as shit, so I'm willing to rain check for January and Feb too. I just need something else to do this month than whimper about hating my life :D :D :D
