In particular, I found your thoughts on making characters prisoners very useful; I don't think this through nearly often enough, and though my characters are pretty much always deeply flawed in some way or another, sometimes I run into the problem of once they do this or that or this or that, oh ho, now they've learned, or something's been resolved, and it tends not to trouble them as much anymore, which is NOT awesome.
