I love this piece. Deon's on his way out the door and you can just feel it in his every reaction and thought. There's a lot of peace there, and by the time you get to the wind lulling him away the tears are just flowing because this is the end, and it fits together beautifully.
Just wonderfully done, and heartwrenching as every Mexico AU should be <3.
And for Mara to have gotten to that point is terrifying but very in character, because without Deon she would have quit the game one way or another, too tired to go on by herself. So this holds up as a good contrast for when Mara thought she was making her last stand in Wake Up Call, and how years of hunting and all the death can do to change a person.
