Urrrrrrgh moving efforts has been stalled by a major stomachache.  When I was younger, I used to have such a bad reaction to raw bananas that I often threw up from it, but I figured I might have grown up from that since then.  Not the case :<  Oh sweet delicious banana crepes, you were still worth it to me ;_;

Urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh and I also finished a Regency AU fic last night, but I decided that it sucks too hard for general consumption.  So I will re-write it in April when I am not falling apart in anxiety, and for now leave you with the end of the 30 Questions Meme.

26. Let's talk art! Do you draw your characters? Do others draw them? Pick one of your OCs and post your favorite picture of him!

I doodle my characters fairly often, but rarely draw anything that is worth showing to other people (UNLESS IT INVOLVES BACON VON SWAZYE OR THE CUTTING EDGE, OBV).  I would like to get a tablet and draw more using a computer (I think starting Tegaki groups for the games I'm involved in, especially RH, would be awesome), but we'll see how things in Vegas go financially.  For other people, I do get a fair amount of art, and it makes me go ;____________________; because, just as how you feel wibbly when a person writes a story and includes your character, it feels good that someone cared about your creation enough to devote time into drawing them.

If you made me pick my top three four, these are it:

Onayepheton
- by Relia  (all the ladiez love guys who have the posture of a lawn chair)

Liam - by K  (I've told her this, but I want to so badly print this on cloth so I can make a purse or something out of it.  Daaaaaaaaaaayum.)

Deon - by Pixie (I STILL BELIEVE HE'S IN MARA'S SHORTS.  WHILST HUNTING UNICORNS)

Endymion and Serenity
- by K   (fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff)

Okay and this one is just so much fun - DRUNKEN SHENANIGANS by Kol.   The imaginary fifth panel smells like smoke and horror.

27. Along similar lines, do appearances play a big role in your stories? Tell us about them, or if not, how you go about designing your characters.

Actually....I rather appearance doesn't take a giant part of stories.  In RP it's a little different because you NEED to do detailed description write-ups, plus it is easier to establish your characters do have one or two key distinguishing features (Deon's sideburns, Kazuo's block-glasses, Val's designer everything).  In my own works though, I'm happy saying "AND ALICE IS BLONDE" once and not mentioning anything about her physically again.   I find that being constantly reminded of appearances is distracting, honestly.  Also, it can totally ruin my image of the character that I had in my head.  Like Lee Scoresby, from His Dark Materials?  Will always be from Native American blood in my head, movie and canon be damned (though I would have accepted Samuel L. Jackson as a runner-up).

I can't think of a particular process I go through to design my characters D:  An image just starts to crop up as I work on other aspects of them, and by the time I'm ready to work on appearance I have it clearly visualized in my head.  Sometimes, I heavily rely on a PB to help me get through the description process, since I fail hard at describing finer physical features.  The Tektek Gaia Avatar Maker actually helps me a lot when it comes to the general concept of the character, and also their wardrobe (this is how Deon was first created.  Also I will never find a PB for him :< )

28. Have you ever written a character with physical or mental disabilities? Describe them, and if there's nothing major to speak of, tell us a few smaller ones.

I've done physical disabilities once or twice.  Once upon a time I had a Sailor Hephaestus who had artificial legs (but because I sucked ass at RP at the time, I only had her for like a month).  Galen was my next one, and his major health problem was dilated cardiomypathy, which was getting worse as time passed (the way I had it planned, had he not awakened as an angel, he would have died before he was 20.  That he needed more time to lay down and rest each day prior to that was a clue.)   Vay has asthema, which is lawls since he is the Big Bad Wolf ("I'll huff, and I'll puff...and then I'll need my inhaler :< ").  Oh, I had a major char in Sleepers Awake, Jack, who was confined to a wheelchair.  You know, which is awesome when you are being chased by zombies constantly D:

I definitely do not tackle mental disabilities though.  I know that I'm probably capable of it, having studied psychology and all, but it makes me very personally uncomfortable to try to write it myself.  A part of it is because I'd be absolutely terrified of being insensitive and inaccurate in my portrayal of the character, or reduce the character into something of a trope or less-than-human device.  I think it's also because suffering mental damage/disability is one of my major terrors in life.  Flowers for Algernon scared the ever living shit out of me, let me tell you.

29. How often do you think about writing? Ever come across something IRL that reminds you of your story/characters?

ALL.  THE.  TIME.   Uh I'm hard-pressed to name times that I don't think about writing.  I get especially deep in my writing thoughts when I'm driving and when I'm walking.   I've mentioned this to other people, but I am so immersed in writing/RP culture (not to mention fandom in general) that I really don't have any idea what people think about without having characters in their heads to muse over.  Are they thinking about taxes constantly?  Clothing?  Mathematical equations?  RP/writing has been my mental chew toy for over ten years now, and without it, I think I would have gone insane from mental under-stimulation a long time ago.

And please, it is so fun to find IRL stuff that reminds me of characters, and sometimes those things go on to inspire stories.  I particularly enjoy 'shopping' for my characters, AKA finding clothes that I think are appropriate for them.  It was the only reason I spent time in my Macy's Men's Store >>  Also, I still love the idea that Val and Loni might have matching Playboy robes and slippers (red and hot pink, respectively). .

30. Final question! Tag someone! And tell us what you like about that person as a writer and/or about one of his/her characters!

It makes no sense to tag people who are already doing it so DO THIS K.

K is a writer who is very obviously also an artist, and I mean this in a very complimentary way.  The way she writes descriptions and sets moods is exactly like having the scene slapped on a watercolor board in front of you.  She tends to write rich and textural, but can also be light and whimsy when it suits the story, which I adore.   Quinn is forever my axe-bearing chain smoking luff.
