It was seeing Angie crank out two Father's Day themed stories that really made me bust my ass on this one.  I've been fiddling with this story for about a month now and just need to get it out of my system. 

Who: Deon, Mara, Rebecka, Samantha.
What: Biometrics/Future AU.   Adjusting to being brand-new parents, finding the resolve to do the last thing they set out to accomplish.
Where: Reed's Louisiana home.
When: About four months after the raid to save Lynn.  About nine months after a particular accident.
Why: For a Mother's Day/Father's Day combo fic, and also for the Schmoop tile Kidfic - Bedtime.  Also by the song Rumblefish by Bonnie Pink.

Guys.  I fucking love writing about babies.  I try not to do it a lot, or ya'll would get so sick of me.

I went to a resume seminar just now and it BLEW MY MIND.  Funny how you think you have something figured out, and then someone goes ahead and gives you a smackdown of information that sings to you.   I'm actually pretty excited right now.   (LIKE I DIDN'T REALIZE PEOPLE WERE PUTTING LINKEDIN PROFILES IN WITH THEIR CONTACT INFO.  THAT IS BRILLIANT.)   I also got un-scared from making a Summary for myself, since I didn't feel focused enough before to make one, and I learned a much better way to format my qualifications and experience - by a system of PSR - stating the problem you faced, the solution you found, and the results that came from it.  I might have to get creative on results because a lot of my accomplishments at Macy's fell into a black hole but it was a great, active approach.  I found a better format for my resume too, since the chronological format really doesn't work when you are changing fields or short on experience. 

So tonight I'll be creating a Master Resume full of everything I've ever done ever, and split it into two resumes - one for copywriting/proofing and one for HR.  I'm still struggling with HR cause I don't know how to get my foot in the door, especially without a certification.  But I'm going to get that HR resume checked-over by a (DIFFERENT) counselor and at least put in for temping.  

Thanks to Kol I have two wonderful pictures for my profile there too, and the one I don't use on LinkedIn I'll probably throw on Facebook.

Also a Kingdom question:  I've been making Kingdom avatars for my Rock Band game whenever I get the time, and I have Deon, Mara, Raquel, Dusty (a really horrible looking Dusty cause none of the skin or hair colors looks right), Val, Rae, Marcus, and Nate (because I might make Love Assault as an alt band).   If I made one of your Kingdom characters for this game, which one would you want me to go with?  What kind of clothing would they wear to a rock concert?  What instrument would they prefer - vocals, keyboard, guitar, bass, or drums? 

It is actually really adorable watching Val go crazy over the drumset.  Dusty and Raquel are my current vocalists, which gets really funny when we are playing a twee poppy song.

Pixie I did it :D  I wrote Dusty-being-broken fic for Gryle's Everyone Is A Sad Panda Future AU. 

It kind of has more to do with Deon, but that's not really his fault.  I couldn't imagine Dusty taking an active role in a story like this, or taking an active role in ANYTHING after what happened to him.   I HOPE HIS MISERY PLEASES YOU.

day 15: character you have the most in common with

Valentino.  Moreso than any of my other characters, a lot of his deeper motivations mirror what I would do in his situation (which is still not a perfect mirror, but it is the closest).  He also sort of reflects what I think about my own teenage years - that I was a flaily insecure mess (and still by-and-large am), and that I believed my life and future was going to be over at any second, with any single bad choice.  He is afraid of people hating him and he is initially eager to morph himself around to suit others needs, though as he gets older he gets a more stable sense of self-identity.  He also often is torn between the comfort of stability and the yearning to try out something risky and new - there is no way he will be able to stay in Sunset City forever, but he would want his friends to know that his roots are there, and that he'll never leave them behind forever, no matter how far around the world he goes.

HOLY CRAP I FINISHED A FIC  *FLAIL*

First full week of work this week.  I'm dedicating myself to not killing myself over this job like I did the last one, which means actually taking my breaks and walking a bit slower in the stock room and hydrating myself waaaaaaaay more often.  

HERE IS YET ANOTHER STORY IN WHICH MARA MUST ENTERTAIN A DRUNK.  PROBABLY MORE DISTURBING THAN ANGIE'S STORY.  Also, spy the homage to a different drinking story!

Had the same old problem where I wrote the dialogue first, and had trouble filling in the in-betweens later.  I really need to figure out a way to work around this.

Already posted on the Kingdom forums, but I wanted to put it here for posterity.   Wrote it in a short, early morning burst on 25+ hours without sleep.    Somehow these quick and dirty fics end up being my best ones.  I really deeply like how this story turned out, so much that I was actually apprehensive about even posting it XD

Both of these are bad and unedited and somewhat jumbled and I will say freely so, but I've been so run-over by retail work lately that my brain cannot properly get into things.  It's only out of a sense of completion that I post them, to prove that I've been trying.  These two are from Wednesday and Thursday's prompts, and Friday's ("a long farewell and a time to choose") is a bye because it's being RPed out instead :D
