day 14: favorite kind of pb: actor, musician, or model

Model.  Actually, if I have to use a PB, I prefer to use a PB I'm not very familiar with.  I don't want to feel like an actor/musician is influencing my character so much that he/she isn't exactly my character anymore.  Basically, I'm afraid of turning the PB into a fan character, you know?  So I prefer models because well, all they really do is picture work.   

(I had a batch of model PBs I really liked for Angels - Chris Kramer, Brent Tuhtan (even though I had to pretend he was +50 pounds to be a proper Galen), and Ben Vescovi.  David Usher (musician) and Megan Fox (you know who she is) were two others I picked, though I've become more familiar with those guys in the past few years, so I probably would not use them again XD ) 


Ooof I am so out of it tonight, so sick and light in the head.  I hope to finish a fic tonight though XD

Gah, I'm very much with you about not liking Pbs I know very well, and the danger of fan characters - it's something I wrestle with every time I use a Pb, because I'm very torn between wanting someone unknown or whose persona isn't set in stone and wanting someone who has a wide range of expressions (this is especially true in a community like Pax, where there's a lot of threading going on).

BELATED COMMENT AHOY. That's an interesting question re. actors/models/musicians -- I'm firmly in the actor camp for my own chars because, for lack of a better term, models often are too broadly good-looking and young and... modernly/fashionably done up? Like, if I have a nerdy 40-year-old character who wears ugly sweatervests constantly, it's a lot easier for me to find an actor who might have pictures of that nature on Hollow Art or PB Updates than a model. Similarly, I like the range of expressions that actors make a little better -- I tend to find models make the same five broody modelfaces (and maybe a few attractive smiles).

However, there's the flipside: the problem that with actors, you have to constantly be gambling that no one else in that game/social circle is using that PB, for cognitive dissonance/overlap problems, and that can be difficult and rule out a lot of famous stars. I love PB-choosing but sometimes it can be SO HARD.

As for musicians I can rarely find photos of them looking... err, normal enough. HOWEVER AS A FUN FACT I HAVE A CHARACTER WHO HAS DAVID BOWIE AS A PB. But he is not very normal-looking.
