It occurred to me that I haven't made any indication that I'm alive lately!

-  I've had a surprisingly active life lately! Lots of stuff going on with work (going in for more Adobe training tomorrow, which is delicious for my LinkedIn profile), lots of sewing as I prepare for Fanime, biking around everywhere, reading books, baking, ADVENTURES.

- Recent ADVENTURES include Half Moon Bay three weeks ago with Fyre, Kol's birthday celebration in San Francisco two weeks ago, the Alameda Antique Faire last Sunday (got myself two papasan chairs for $60 total!).  I'm kinda maxed out on adventures for now, except I'm going back up to San Francisco tomorrow for training XD XD XD  THEN I WILL LOCK MYSELF IN MY APARTMENT ALL WEEKEND FOR SEWING though I'm making good time on my Musubi outfit, so I'm not that concerned.

-  On a huge science-lecture kick lately.  Been trolling YouTube and TED Talks for interesting videos and inspiration.  Lemme share my favorite two: 

Contemplate the Universe Inside You - from 8Tracks, and there are two sequels to it so far. These mixes are ~5 minute chunks of dialogues from Carl Sagan, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Richard Dawkins, and others of the like.  Usually I listen to at least one of these a day - it inspires me towards learning more every day and reaffirming my faith (or non-faith) with the reassurance that greater minds than mine can articulate how I feel about the universe and our place in it.  

Neil deGrasse Tyson and Stephen Colbert at Montclair State University - Hilarious, as you would imagine, but I really enjoy how passionate Tyson is about astrophysics and the advancement of science literacy. 

SEND ME ANY SPACE/PSYCHOLOGY/SCIENCE TALKS THAT YOU THINK ARE AWESOME :D 

- Dabbling on a few fics, but too much of a squirrel-brain to really focus on any one story for more than five minutes D:   However, I am happy that I finally started a story that I wanted to write for my dad - when I was 11 or 12, he used to pay me to take his hand-written novel pages and type them up in Word.  One of his favorite stories was about a female POW and her escape from jail, so I want to surprise him for Father's Day by writing him a story based on that character.  I can't really write a gritty POW tale without cursing and other gritty things, so I hope the story doesn't traumatize him knowing his only daughter wrote it, but I think he can survive.  After all, my brother is in a band named after a porno and he hasn't been kicked out of the house yet.

- Saw the Avengers last weekend, as did most of nerd America it seems.  It was definitely the funniest shit I've seen in a while.  Of course it was problematic - the biggest problem I had personally was a singular line out of Thor's mouth on the SHIELD helicarrier, and also a 'too soon' sort of reaction with the final action sequence - but other than that, it was shockingly well done for a superhero clusterfuck of a film.  Hulk, Black Widow, and Loki all stole the show without a doubt in the world.  I don't know what everyone else's taste is, but Mark Ruffalo blew me away with how hot he is, PLUS HE IS A VEGETARIAN so yeah, there is my perfect man :<

Ruffalo's Banner was hot, hot, hot. He pinged all my fetishes for, like, mild-mannered awkward Jekylls repressing dangerous animalistic Hydes, right next to Remus Lupin. Damn, Dr. Banner.

Uhhh I don't even know how to describe all of the ways I find him hot. If I had to pick one, I'd have to say it's how his face is just so pleasant to look at. Also, the little bit of chest you see, like a fucking tease.

(I left the theater shipping a number of things, but BannerxBlackWidow is one of my favorite things in the world right now. Other than BannerxStarkxSCIENCE OT3)

Shipping for me was all up in 1. Black Widow/Hawkeye, who I'm glad were just bros and war buddies in the movie but who I have started shipping outside of it, 2. Tony/Bruce adorable science partnership, and 3. sigh, Asgardcest calls and I can no longer resist its siren song. There was plenty to look at in the movie, but since my boy Jeremy Renner was in there being evil, which is what he does best, I was very distracted.

It was raining men. Hallelujah.

Do you have Netflix? Have you tried watching the cartoon show, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes? It's a really good show, along the same vein as the Justice League cartoons. I mention this because they got a LOT of sexual tension between Black Widow/Hawkeye under the radar. Like, the characters aren't saying anything but you can FEEL it radiating from the scene. It is so delicious.

I can see the appeal of Asgardcest, for sure, but more than anything I want Thor and Loki to just hug it out and be good again ;_; Not really possible giving how far Loki has dove off the deep end. Of everything in the movie, I had the most emotions invested in seeing them make any positive progress in their relationship ;_;

I've seen bits of the cartoon, but that sort of makes me want to watch more of it. I don't have Netflix but I think I'm going to get it when I move into a new apartment, among other things (including a Wii).

God, me too. I think they might have the excuse of the tesseract's corrupting influence (see: the whole scene where they're arguing around the scepter) to deal with some of his craziness in this movie, and Thor is pretty willing to forgive him anything it seems, but... augh, I have so many feelings about their ill-fated goddamn relationship and I want them to make up and team up even warily in a future movie. Or make out. I'm pretty sure that's an "or" there, because I cannot see a version of Asgardian incest that ends well or is indicative of their relationship going healthily, but that's sort of the appeal. But honestly, I just want them to actually say the shit they're terrible at saying and hug each other and then Odin to hug them both and apologize for being kind of a bad father and yeah.

WHAAAA. I listened to that whole Third Eye Blind album today for the first time in yeeeeeeeeeears. Holds up much better than a lot of my old teenage standbys. So it weirded me out a little to see it in your post here.

Also, this Avengers news pleases me because The Hulk (or, more accurately, Dr. Banner) is my favorite Marvel guy ever, and I was both disappointed that we had a THIRD Dr. Banner in as many movies and hopeful because it's Mark Ruffalo. (Have you ever seen Zodiac? I love him in Zodiac.)

I LIVE TO FREAK YOU OUT. I love that album too. "Graduate" is one of my penultimate Deon songs, actually, so it usually stays in the iPod rotation. (Also "God of Wine" for DeonxMaraxBoxedWine OT3)

OMG I was on the Hulk-bitching train too, until I saw this movie, and now I'm like "PLEASE GIVE ME A THIRD HULK MOVIE. PLEASE." (I need to watch Zodiac!)

YOU DO YOU DO! Zodiac is one of my favorite movies. Fair warning: it's not really a serial killer movie. It's more like a police procedural (with emphasis on how damn inefficient the various disconnected police departments are) crossed with a study of the way Robert Graysmith's (Gyllenhaal) obsession with the killer basically consumed and wrecked his life. But these happen to be two things I enjoy, plus the interaction between RDJ and Gyllenhaal is delightful.

Plus, you know, Stark and Banner bouncing around in the same film again but this time as a reporter and a detective in 1970s San Francisco.

Actually I think a lot of universities are turning to iTunes to distribute lectures, could probably search any school you like and find great stuff.
