Series: Chaos Crisis
Characters: Mulli, Ichi-Ichi-Ni
The newly-made creature stared up at her with eyes hidden under heavy, furry wrinkles. Its sandy paws reached for Mulli's hands as she approached him with metal tongs. Saline water splashed when he wagged his thick caudal fin against the very shallow water of his pool.
She pinched the chimera's forepaw with the tongs, in the delicate webbing between his toes. The beast whimpered, whined low in pain. Then Mulli dropped the tool and reapproached with her bare hand, and comforted him with scratches behind his ear. He yipped enthusiastically, and nipped at her fingers for more.
That test had been simple, but outstandingly telling. The contrast of sensations demonstrated that the creature was not in pain due to his mere existence. He was viable, successful, a living testament to her intellect.
Beautiful.
"I am your creator and master, #112," Mulli declared. She didn't like the sound of her voice, but the chimera did, lulling his great black eyes up at her. Inexplicably, something about the gesture softened her.
"Though, Kaolinite ordered for me the samples which created you." She rubbed her fingers over his funny little face. "It's like she helped create you as well."
He cooed and snapped his little jaws at her, and to that she smiled.
